Connect your Spotify account

Here, a “Spotify app” means a connection you create on Spotify’s website. There is nothing to download or code. It gives your hosted overlay permission to read the song you are playing.

Before you start: Spotify currently requires the owner of a development app to have Spotify Premium. Check Spotify’s requirements ↗

  1. Open the Spotify Developer DashboardOpen the Spotify Developer Dashboard ↗ in a new tab. If prompted, log in with the Spotify account you use to play music. Keep this page open so you can return to it.
  2. Create your Spotify appClick Create app. Fill in the boxes using the field guide below. Select Web API when Spotify asks which API or SDK you will use. Then continue to step 3 to add the redirect address before saving.

    App description

  3. Add the redirect address and saveIn Spotify’s Redirect URIs field, paste the exact address supplied below. Click Add if shown, review Spotify’s terms, then click Save or Create. For an existing app, open its Settings to update Redirect URIs. This address brings you back here after Spotify sign-in; it is not your OBS URL.
    Redirect URI
Not available yet. When setup opens, use the Copy button here and paste that address into Spotify’s Redirect URIs box. Don’t use the Website address above for this field.
  4. Copy your Client ID back hereReturn to the Spotify Developer Dashboard ↗. Click the app you named My Stream Overlay, then open Settings. Find the label Client ID and copy the full string beneath it. Return to this tab and paste it into Spotify Client ID below. This identifies your app; it is not your Spotify username. Leave Client Secret alone.
  5. Connect and approve accessOnce setup is enabled, click Connect Spotify below. On Spotify’s page, check that you are signing into the account you play music with. Review the requested permission to read your current track, then approve it. Spotify will return you to this page.
  6. Play a song and check the resultOpen Spotify ↗ or your Spotify app and start a song. Return here and check that the preview matches its title and artist. When the live track check succeeds, you’ll see Spotify connected and the Choose your style button will become available. After saving your design, you’ll get your personal OBS browser-source URL.
Connection status: Not connected

Account linking and the live track check are not available yet.

We’ll use Spotify’s PKCE sign-in method ↗, so you won’t need to give us a Client Secret. This guide is ready to review; account linking and the live track check are still being built.

Set up Apple Music

Before we can connect your overlay, we need to check how you listen.

  1. Choose your playback appTell us whether you use Apple Music for Windows, the web player, or another device.
  2. Confirm your PC setupLet the beta team know whether music and OBS run on the same PC or on separate PCs.
  3. Wait for your tested setup guideWe’ll confirm a supported connection method before asking you to install or connect anything.

An Apple Music sign-in alone does not establish access to the song playing in a separate app. No connection is available here yet.

Set up Amazon Music

We’re checking a suitable way to read your currently playing track.

  1. Tell us where you play musicLet the beta team know whether you use the Amazon Music desktop app, web player, or another device.
  2. Confirm your PC setupTell us whether your music plays on the OBS PC or a separate PC.
  3. Wait for a supported connectionWe’ll provide the matching setup steps once that playback method has been tested.

Amazon’s music API is in a closed beta. There is no self-service API-key setup to complete here.

Set up YouTube Music

The connection depends on the browser or desktop player you use.

  1. Confirm your playerTell the beta team which browser you use for YouTube Music, or the exact name of your desktop player.
  2. Confirm your PC setupTell us whether YouTube Music and OBS run on the same PC or separate PCs.
  3. Wait for your tested setup guideWe’re evaluating a companion connection. Downloads and pairing instructions will appear only after testing.

A YouTube Data API key does not provide a documented route to your live YouTube Music playback. Don’t create one for this overlay.
